Respected referee Gavin Badger retires from the NRL after 411 games

Rugby league referee Gavin Badger today was presented with the game ball as he retired from on field duties with the NRL.

Badger’s final game was the 411th NRL game that he had officiated.

In an unofficial presentation at the end of the Round 20 NRL game Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs Captain Josh Jackson presented the game ball to Gavin Badger.

When Gavin Badger officiated his first game for the NRL, he was the 71st person appointed.

An hour after his final game, he posted two photos to social media showing his whistle, boots and game ball in the dressing shed at ANZ Stadium.

“Done!!! Thank you @nrl it’s been quite a ride.”

Past and present players, clubs and the NRL acknowledged Gavin Badger’s achievements after it was announced he was retiring from the NRL.
