Sports presenter Jim Wilson leaves Channel 7 surrounded by colleagues
We’ve just farewelled a very popular member of our sports team at Channel 7 — Jim Wilson.
Jim signed-off from 7NEWS at our Sydney studios at about 7pm on Saturday 27th June 2020.
Jim Wilson is leaving Seven after 28 years service to become the new drive radio presenter at Sydney radio station 2GB. The reaction to Jim’s departure has been “huge” — much like the ‘huge’ tribute package that he assembled for Darrell Eastlake.
Viewers have watched him report live from all the big sporting events around the world.
I hope you enjoy watching this collection of moments that went to air on Jim’s final night at Seven — and reading some of the comments that were posted online.
He’s an outstanding team player — and always encouraging of his colleagues.
He’s very well connected too!
The highlight of my association with Jim was when we both headed over to St Leonards for three months to produce Channel 7’s 2017 Rugby League World Cup. Some long and enjoyable days watching footy teams like Tonga and Lebanon make a mark on the world sporting stage.
All the best to Jimmy — and thanks for the support.
