Visiting the Crystal Shower Falls inside the Dorrigo National Park
If ever you find yourself near Coffs Harbour or Armidale in northern New South Wales, make sure you visit the amazing Crystal Shower Falls — located not far from Dorrigo.
The Crystal Shower Falls can be found on the Wonga Walk inside the Dorrigo National Park — the main entry to the park is via the Dorrigo Rainforest Centre— which is about two kilometres east of the Dorrigo township along Dome Road.
There’s plenty of parking at the rainforest centre and you’ll find a shop and cafe inside the building. Visitors are invited to make a gold coin donation as they enter.
The Dorrigo Skywalk is located only metres from the Dorrigo Rainforest Centre — The Skywalk Lookout offers a stunning view of the Dorrigo National Park, Bellinger Valley, Nambucca Heads and the Pacific Ocean.
To access the famous Crystal Shower Falls you’ll need to join the Wonga Walk — this trail starts at the rear of the rainforest centre. The trail is well sign posted by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service.
The direct walk to the Crystal Shower Falls is about 4.5 kilometres return — one hour return. If you chose to walk the loop trail, which we did, it’s a 5.8 kilometre walk that takes you past the Tristania Falls and Hardwood Lookout — about a 90 minute walk through lush rainforest.
Once you leave the rainforest centre you won’t pass any shops or cafes — you’ll need to bring your own food and water. A pair of good walking shoes will help you tackle the trail.
The Crystal Shower Falls are amazing!
The best part of the waterfall is that you can walk behind the waterfall.
The suspension bridge at the waterfall is part of the Wonga Walk.
The waterfall provides for some amazing photographs and videos.
Prepare to spend at least 20 minutes when you arrive at the waterfall. It’s a great spot to relax before the walk back up the rainforest centre.
